In collaboration with RDCK Regional Directors, the SGRC spatially analyzed the health services available within the West Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital District (WKBRHD) as it related to projected population changes and transportation options.
From this analysis, the SGRC mapped areas with a trend in increasing populations amongst the 65 and over age group. In addition, gaps in diagnostic and emergency services were identified across the WKBRHD. Historical and current hospital bed counts were evaluated to show increasing or decreasing trends. Transporation options were mapped as well to show optimal days for accessing cities with health services.
